Coach Training
PIP Ministries coaches receive training in standard coaching core competencies and our own specialized training around dialogue, appreciative inquiry, theological reflection and emotional intelligence. Most of our coaches are full-time elders and deacons serving in churches while also coaching 2-3 people at a time. Our coaches are trained to understand the theories that undergird our approach and are resourced with the tools needed to equip and empower clients in every step
of the coaching conversation.

Program Introduction and Discernment
If you are interested in being trained as a PIP Ministries Coach, begin the journey by filling out the form on the bottom of this page. Potential coaches will be invited to an online introduction to our program in the spring or summer of each year. You would then discern, with the support of their sponsor, to join our full training program.

Invitation to Full Coach Training Program
Invitation to participate in Coach Training is limited. We use the impactful peer learning model, which limits our class size to 6-8 people. You will be notified of your selection by late summer for the beginning of the fall cohort.

Supervising Coach
You will be assigned a PIP coach so that you may experience first-hand what coaching is like and what you will be doing as a coach.

Coach Training Retreats
We typically meet for an in-person retreat at the beginning and end of the content portion of the training. These retreats are special times where you will meet life-long friends and hone your coaching skills together.

Virtual Learning
Your Coach Training Cohort will meet online every three to four weeks to continue to explore appreciative coaching practices and honing your skills for an effective coaching ministry.

Coaching Practicum
You will be assigned a coaching client who you will coach over three months. The supervising coach will help you reflect on this practicum coaching, so that you may deepen your practice and competency as a coach.
